Thomas Walsh Photography Opening

Do photographers always tell their personal stories through their compositions? A visual artist's creation might be a realistic depiction of a subject, but it's hard to imagine any work of art failing to communicate to some extent the spirit and story of its creator. On the other hand, an artist might fabricate sheer fantasy. Such fiction will be deeply informed by its creator's background and as such may be the purest form of self-expression.

The current display includes several pieces lying at points along the continuum from faithful rendering of external objects to statements of pure fiction.

Thomas Walsh's photographs have been published in a number of magazines including Mountain Living, New Woman, Seattle Homes and Lifestyles, Natural Home, and the Herb Companion. For several years, Thomas as served as Contributing Editor for Environmental Issues at Mountain Living Magazine. Thomas' technical background in photography derives, at least in part, from his science education. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy from Georgetown University, and Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Oregon.

Please join us for Thomas Walsh's Opening Reception at Boulder Digital Arts, Monday May 2, 2016, from 5 - 8pm to view and discuss this evolving aesthetic.
