Adobe Photoshop: Compositing and Montaging

Description:
This hands-on class takes you on an astounding adventure into Photoshop's most mysterious and untapped realm of compositing and montaging. Mark Johnson will show you how to create breathtaking image blends through the use of selection-making tools, layer masks, blending modes, and Smart Objects.

This class will cover:
  • How to get the most from Photoshop's amazing Quick Selection and Refine Mask features
  • Masking fundamentals
  • How to combine masks with selections
  • A method for replacing disappointing skies
  • How to clip a picture into text
  • A clever way to use blending modes to combine two images
  • The secret behind Smart Objects
  • How to combine two images to extend tonal range

Presented in Adobe CS5, but most of what is taught will apply to earlier versions of the program.

These in-depth one or two-day classes are designed for students to follow along with the instructor on BDA-provided Macintosh computers. For maximum impact and the best student experience all intensives are limited to seven participants. Hands-on intensives are usually during the day from 9am - 5pm. Our Hands-On Intensives are the perfect way to gain in-depth knowledge!
Who Should Take This:
Students who have taken Getting Started with Adobe Photoshop or have equivalent experience and want to become experts at combining two or more images.
Instructor:
Mark JohnsonMark S. Johnson is a Photoshop luminary, photographer, author, and one of the most passionate instructors you will ever encounter. He wrote, photographed, and designed the internationally-recognized book, Botanical Dreaming—one of five featured books in Outdoor Photographer’s 2008 Annual Landscape issue. Mark's immensely popular eBook, the Photographer's Photoshop CS4 Companion, has helped thousands of photographers from around the globe understand and enjoy Photoshop. His signature video tutorial series, The Photoshop Workbench, was viewed by half a million unique visitors last year.

Through the Rocky Mountain School of Photography, The Radiant Vista, and Boulder Digital Arts, Mark has taught countless people, including Adobe’s Chief Executive Officers, Bruce Chizen and Shantanu Narayen. His articles appear regularly on the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) web site, and his imagery and articles have been featured in Photo Techniques, Nature’s Best, and After Capture magazines. The building is .6 miles east of Foothills Parkway, and .25 miles west of 55th Street. Range is the street that is between the stoplights at Conestoga and Commerce. Parking is available all around the building.
