I know the manual says every 10,000 km but my dad keeps yelling at me that 5,000 is the only safe number and honestly I’m just confused at this point. I drive a 2019 Japanese sedan, mostly highway miles with some stop-and-go during evening rush hour, and I’ve been sticking to the dealership’s schedule but a coworker told me I’m slowly destroying my engine. Then I called a local garage and they said synthetic can easily go 12,000. So who’s actually right? I was looking into a proper car oil and filter change service near me and noticed some places include a full inspection while others just drain and fill in fifteen minutes. Does that matter much? Also I’ll admit I’ve been bad about checking the dipstick between changes because I always forget. Just trying to figure out if I’m being paranoid or if my dad has a point about old habits dying hard.
