Came back from a week long trip to find my 2014 E350 looking like it’s doing a lowrider impression on just the front left corner and the whole car is tilted at this sad angle and my neighbor already made a joke about it being parked on a slope which would be funny if I wasn’t staring at what is probably a four figure air suspension repair bill that I was absolutely not budgeting for this month. I’ve had the car for two years and it’s been great up until now but I knew the Airmatic system was a ticking time bomb on these things and I guess my number finally came up and now I’m trying to figure out if it’s a leaking strut or just a ride height sensor that’s gone haywire because one of those is a much cheaper fix and I’m desperately hoping it’s the latter even though I know deep down it’s probably a bag that’s split from the heat and age. I was looking around for places that actually know these systems instead of just telling me to convert it to coil springs which I really don’t want to do because I love the way it rides when it’s working and I stumbled across some Mercedes suspension repair specialists Dubai who seem to deal with Airmatic issues all day long and that’s honestly more reassuring than taking it to a generic shop where the guy just shrugs and says “German cars mate” while handing me a quote that makes me want to sell the car on Dubizzle for parts. Anyone had an air strut fail on a W212 and can tell me if it’s worth fixing properly or if I should just start looking at used Lexuses and accept my fate as a boring but reliable person now?
