So I’ve been eyeing this 2018 Continental over at a dealer on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi near Mussafah and the price seems almost too good to be true for the mileage they’re claiming, the car looks clean in the photos and the guy on the phone was super friendly but I’ve been burned before back in the States buying a used luxury car that looked perfect on the lot and then six weeks later the air suspension decided to take a permanent vacation and I ended up spending more than the car was worth just to keep it on the road, and honestly I’m still pretty new to the UAE car market so I’m not really sure what the local expectations are for a pre purchase check on something like a Lincoln, like do dealers here get offended if you want an independent set of eyes on it or is that standard practice because I definitely don’t want to insult anyone but I also don’t want to find out the hard way that the climate control blend door actuators are about to fail or the torque converter has been shuddering for the last twenty thousand kilometers, I’ve been searching around online trying to find a garage that actually knows these cars specifically not just generic American stuff because the Continental has some unique electronic modules and the last thing I need is some guy with a generic OBD scanner telling me everything is fine when the active noise control system is throwing silent codes, I stumbled across something mentioning Lincoln professional pre-purchase inspection while I was deep in a forum rabbit hole last night and it at least gave me an idea of what to actually look for on this particular model, so I guess my question for anyone in the Abu Dhabi area is whether you’ve had a good experience with a shop that genuinely knows their way around a modern Lincoln or if I should just stick to the dealer network for peace of mind even though their inspection fee is probably going to make me wince.
