Adobe Captivate Hands-On Intensive

What You'll Learn

This in-depth, hands-on class will teach you the main components of Adobe Captivate. By the end of the class you'll be familiar with how to create eLearning simulations using Adobe Captivate. The class is 5-hours of material with a one-hour break for a total of 6-hours.

What is Adobe Captivate?

Adobe Captivate is a powerful eLearning creation program. Captivate allows users to create eLearning simulations, modules, virtual reality projects and more with one simple app.

The best part? Adobe Captivate is SCORM compliant, so no need to wonder whether your content needs to be SCORM compliant or not. If you're creating in Captivate, you'll have peace of mind in this regard.

Because of its versatility, Adobe Captivate exports to a variety of Learning Management Systems. As a creator, you can export .mp4 files or HTML5 files for eLearning.

Although this sounds like an overhwhelming amount of stuff to learn, creating eLearning content in Captivate is simpler than you can imagine. In fact, you'll find that time flies when using this app, because it's so much fun!

Why Use It?

Online learning is becoming increasingly important - particularly in recent times as learning moves from in-person, classroom-based education to digital and remote classes. Captivate empowers anyone to create engaging eLearning materials for their different audiences, be it students or employees.

In addition, Adobe Captivate allows you to create learning simulations, in which your students can follow your screen capture as you go along. Simulations are some of the best ways to deliver instruction to people, as they're able to copy your movements as you go. The best part of a simulation is that it's exportable as video. That means, most people don't need any extra equipment to push play.

Using Captivate, you can also create modules that are fullly "responsive" so that your modules scale elegantly to any screen, be it desktop, tablet or phone which is essential for the best user experience.

There's much more this program offers and we encourage you to check out Adobe's website to read about all the features.

What Will Be Covered

  • How to make an eLearning simulation
  • Brief overview of the other five sections of Adobe Captivate

A simulation is a function of Captivate that allows the user record their screen while showing scroll motion, mouse clicks, and sound. The user will be able to record a process, add voice instruction audio to it, and share it with others.

Simulations are a great way to show steps or demonstrate an on-screen process. Unlike a webinar or a video, the main focus is the screen and what the user is attempting to show for students.

Captivate simulations incorporate perfectly well with Adobe Premiere Pro and other Captivate apps.

By the end of the class you'll be familiar with how to create eLearning simulations using Adobe Captivate. We'll be creating a simulation so that you can replicate it for your own purposes. Simulations can export as video, so you'll be able to use this immediately for show on multiple devices.

We'll also gauge interest for a possible Part 2 of this class, which would cover creating an HTML5 eLearning module.

Comptuer & Software Requirements

Since this is a hands-on course, you'll need to have a modern Windows or Macintosh computer with the latest version of Adobe Captivate installed. The instructor will be presenting from her Macintosh computer but the Windows version of captivate is virtually identical. Adobe offers a free 30-day trial of Captivate. Please let us know if you have any questions and we'll get back to you right away!

Who Should Take This
