I run a small chauffeur service and my 2017 Rolls-Royce Ghost is the car my best clients ask for, so when its AC stops working I lose money every hour. Two days ago a client sat in the back for twenty minutes in the afternoon heat and the air was only warm. I felt terrible. Then yesterday there was a short grinding noise from the engine side and after that the AC gave up completely. A garage told me the compressor is finished and needs a new one. The part is not always in stock, they said, and the job could take up to a week. I cannot wait that long, because I have bookings every day. My friend who works with luxury cars says a good workshop can sometimes finish the job in one day if the part is ready. My brother thinks a one day job means a rushed job and says I will pay twice. I could not decide, so one night I read about it online. I opened a page about Rolls-Royce cars on a Sharjah website to learn how the compressor, the dryer and the lines work together. It said that when a compressor fails with a noise, tiny bits of metal can spread into the system, and that the dryer should be changed and the lines cleaned or the new part can fail early. I never knew that. Then a coworker told me to look for a Same-day Rolls-Royce AC compressor change in Sharjah, but only a place that confirms the part before I bring the car, and that gives me the part number and a paper warranty. I liked that advice because fast is only good if it is also done right. So I have some questions. Can a compressor job really be done in one day without skipping the cleaning and the dryer? How do I check if the part is new and not rebuilt? What warranty is normal, three months, six months or a year? And is it smart to ask the garage to call me with the part price first, before I bring the car? If you changed a compressor on your Ghost, Wraith or another Rolls-Royce, please tell me how many days it took and about how much you paid. Thanks a lot.
